Well, it depends on where you want to end up. Do you want to train dogs? Work with behavior problems? Get a college degree? Get an advanced degree?
I went to college, currently attend seminars and college classes to maintain my continuing education. I volunteer with dogs in rescue and shelters. I’m a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine-Knowledge Assessed. I’m working on becoming a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst.

      Schools
These are the dog training schools I usually recommend when I get this question.
You get out of them what you put into them.

      Raising Canine
      Become a Professional Dog Trainer

      Legacy Canine

      Karen Pryor Academy
Clicker training only but markets their graduates.

      Peaceable Paws
      Multi-level certification program.

      Animal Behavior College
Lots of theory classes. Quality of mentorship varies.

      Companion Animal Sciences Institute (online):
You can sign up for a “hands on” component with CASI. Excellent academic information but the hands-on learning can be difficult if you don’t live near a trainer who can help you and trains using the same theory CASI teaches.

Once you get your education, then you need to test for a certification from The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers
This is the only independent certifying organization for dog trainers.

Let me know if this doesn’t answer your question.
